25-year-old wife of slain Boko Haram commander surrenders to troops in Borno

A female member of Boko Haram has surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

The development was disclosed in a post shared by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, via his X handle.

According to the report, the 25-year-old woman, identified as Kaltum Dalha, surrendered to troops at a Forward Operating Base in Konduga at about 11:00 a.m. on February 26.

She reportedly arrived from Sabsawa village with her two-year-old child, Awana Dalha.

Sources said preliminary investigations revealed that her husband, who was allegedly the commander of the Mairam Buri enclave, was recently neutralised during a firefight with troops.

His death was said to have influenced her decision to surrender.

During interrogation, she reportedly confirmed that the group had disintegrated following the elimination of its commander.

Operation Hadin Kai has in recent months intensified offensives against insurgents in the North-East, leading to the neutralisation of several commanders, arrests, recovery of arms and ammunition, as well as the surrender of fighters and their family members.
