9 Catholic Worshippers Abducted During Church Vigil in Benue State

Gunmen have abducted nine worshippers during a vigil at Saint John’s Catholic Church in Utonkon District, Benue State. The victims were taken from the church premises on Sunday, in what a local former councillor described as a “targeted and planned crime.” Emmanuel Udah stated the community is traumatised and living in fear, calling for increased security and international attention. The Benue State Police Command confirmed the abduction, stating the Commissioner of Police has deployed tactical units and local vigilantes to track the kidnappers and rescue the victims.
