Nigerian Presidency assured, reacts after Peter Obi’s remark on Tinubu’s stay in France

The presidency has assured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu remains fully engaged with his responsibility.

Bayo Onanuga, the special adviser to the president on information and strategy in a statement on Thursday said the president is committed to Nigeria’s governance even while away in France.

This statement by Onanuga follows calls by Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party and some other notable leaders over the president’s stay in Europe.

Obi while reacting to the killings of over 100 people in Plateau and Benue states said it was wrong doe the president to continue to stay away while the nation burns.

However, in its reaction, the presidency said Tinubu’s absence remains temporary and in line with the communicated timeframe of approximately two weeks.

Onanuga said, “The President left Paris for London at the weekend and has maintained constant communication with key government officials, overseeing critical national matters, including directives to security chiefs to address emerging threats in some parts of the country.

“His return to Abuja and the resumption of duties at Aso Villa will follow the conclusion of the Easter holiday.

“The President’s commitment to his duties remains unwavering, and his administration continues to function effectively under his leadership,” Onanuga stated.

Also commended Nigerians and leaders alike for their concerns while assuring that governance proceeds without any form of interruption.
