People shouldn’t fold their arms to be slaughtered by bandits

A former lawmaker of the Eighth Nigerian Senate, Shehu Sani has said security is a collective responsibility.

He also noted that Nigerians should not fold their arms and allow themselves to be slaughtered by bandits attacking their communities.

Sani’s statement follows the call by a former defence chief, Theophilus Danjuma who urged Nigerians to defend themselves from the marauding armed herdsmen and bandits operating in their communities.

Sani in a post on X said that Danjuma only reiterated what several Nigerians and leaders have been echoing.

He wrote, “Self Defence; TY Danjuma only repeated what many have earlier said. People shouldn’t just fold their arms and be slaughtered by bandits.

“What is then the meaning of the popular phrase that ‘security is a collective responsibility’?” the former lawmaker queried.
