In an open letter addressed to President Tinubu, Onuoha, the founder of Peace of Yahweh Synagogue and Eastern Judaism, described Kanu as “a prophet of the most high God on a mission” to rescue the people of Biafra and Yoruba.

Onuoha recalled that he had earlier advised President Tinubu to release Kanu shortly after his inauguration last year, but the advice was not heeded. He warned that Kanu’s continued detention would spell doom for the country, citing divine warnings from God.

According to Onuoha, God warned that Kanu’s detention would lead to harsher calamities, including economic, political, and social woes, and even death for those involved in detaining him. He urged President Tinubu to act fast to avoid the impending calamities.

Onuoha drew parallels with the release of Obafemi Awolowo by General Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu before the Nigerian Civil War of 1967, advising President Tinubu to “harken to the message of Yahweh” and release Kanu.

“Let it not be like the warning I gave to erstwhile CAN president, Oritsejafor, in 2011, and also to former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan at Aso Rock during his administration.

“Both failed to implement those warnings and the consequence of that disobedience is why the country is in this bad situation, especially, the easterners,” he said.

Kanu has been in detention since 2021, facing charges of terrorism.
