The group warned that reconciling with those responsible for heinous crimes would undermine the government’s efforts to combat banditry, betray public trust, and be a slap in the face of victims and their families.
They urged the military to sustain their offensives for effective results and demanded that justice be served, holding those responsible accountable.

The Northern Elders commended the military operations in Shinkafi and Jibia and the relocation of senior military personnel to the troubled areas, reflecting the federal government’s commitment to tackling banditry. However, they stressed that reconciliation without accountability would be a miscarriage of justice and a disservice to the nation.
Turji and his cohorts must face the full weight of the law for their unspeakable crimes, including murder, kidnapping, and destruction of property, rather than being offered a reconciliatory olive branch.
