‘We won’t have it’… Chelsea fans have chosen their side in Boehly and Eghbali clash

If reports are to be believed, then Chelsea owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are not exactly seeing eye to eye at the moment.... CLICK TO READ THE FULL NEWS HERE▶▶

It has been claimed that there is friction between Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, which could lead to the former selling his shares.

Boehly has only been at Chelsea for two years after buying the club alongside Eghbali‘s Clearlake Capital in 2022, so it would be a quick exit from Stamford Bridge.

However, you cannot rule out anything with Chelsea these days, so their relationship is definitely something to keep an eye on.

Chelsea fans make stance on Todd Boehly clear

Boehly has been quite a controversial figure at Chelsea, with the American infamously making himself sporting director in the summer of 2022 despite having no experience in football.

Even so, Chelsea supporters want him to remain at the club, preferring the 50-year-old over Eghbali and Clearlake.

I want Todd Boehly over Egbhali any day of the week.

Responding to a post on X asking to pick between “Team Boehly” and “Team Eghbali”, one Chelsea fan said: “Boehly because he has a sporting background and is not rigid with his policy. Not afraid to make [a] big signing.”

Another fan replying to a similar question said: “Boehly, easy.”

One other Chelsea supporter wrote: “I hope Boehly doesn’t sell his shares.”

Here’s the difference: Todd Boehly took over Chelsea FC to be successful, to win everything and sign star players in the process. Eghbali / Clearlake took over Chelsea FC to make money, buying young players on low wages, success is secondary.

On the pitch, Chelsea have also had some problems this season. Enzo Maresca‘s side drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace last time out and lost 2-0 in their first game against Manchester City.

It means they have won just one of their opening three league matches, a 6-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Even so, Chelsea are still confident about returning to the top.
Chelsea team cannot get too distracted by off-field affairs

It is going to be hard for Maresca and Chelsea to ignore all of the noise being made about the club’s ownership right now.

Thankfully for them, it has come at the right time, with there currently being an international break. Maresca is not having to answer any questions on the matter yet.

When Chelsea do return to action, though, he cannot let it distract his team. The Blues need to qualify for the Champions League this season, already missing out on qualification the last two campaigns now.

They already have a little bit of catching up to do after the draw with Palace and defeat to City.
