He made this statement on his X page on Sunday, September 22, 2024, after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Okpebholo as the winner of the polls.
Okpebholo polled 291,667 votes, defeating PDP’s Asue Ighodalo, who came in second with 247,274 votes, and Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata, who came in a distant third with 22,763 votes.
Out of the 18 local government areas in the state, the APC won 10 while the PDP settled for eight.
The statement reads: “Congratulations to the APC and the election winner, Senator Monday Okpebholo on the historic electoral victory and my warmest wishes for a new lease of life for Edo State and its people.
“I very much hope the winners and the losers would work together to strengthen democracy and maintain the trajectory of development in the state.
