The decision, expected on Thursday or Friday, follows a Zoom meeting between CAF and representatives from both Libya and Nigeria, where they discussed the diversion of the Nigerian team’s plane from Benina Airport to Labraq Airport.

It can be recalled that there was controversy following the treatment of the Nigerian national team, Super Eagles, at a Libyan airport, where they were stranded for several hours in “disturbing conditions”.

In reaction, CAF condemned the “disturbing and unacceptable experiences” of the team and suspended the match.

It is understood that the Libyan Football Federation presented technical reasons for the plane’s diversion, citing air navigation issues. The federation involved its Secretary General Nasser Al-Suwaie, Assistant Secretary-General Mohamed Qrimida, and a Tunisian lawyer in its defence.

However, the Nigerian Federation countered with the plane’s Tunisian captain as a witness who provided firsthand details of the incident.
