The wedding fatiha was held on Friday at the National Mosque in Abuja after the Juma’at prayers.
The event united several governors, senators, ministers, business leaders, and traditional and religious leaders across the country.
Other notable attendees include Godswill Akpabio, the senate president; Tajuddeen Abbas, the speaker of the house of representatives Tajuddeen Abbas; Barau Jibrin, deputy senate president; Umar Ganduje, All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman; and Abdullahi Adamu, former APC national chairman.
Governors Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Dikko Radda (Katsina), and Uba Sani (Kaduna) were in attendance, along with former governors Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Nasiru El-Rufai (Kaduna), and Ali Modu Sheriff (Borno).
Presidential aides, including Femi Gbajabiamila, the chief of staff; and Nuhu Ribadu, the national security adviser, also attended the wedding ceremony.
The event marks the first physical meeting between Tinubu and Atiku since the February 2023 general elections.
Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate in the last election, lost to Tinubu and subsequently challenged the outcome in court, only to be defeated again.
Since then, the former Adamawa governor has continued to publicly criticize the economic policies of the Tinubu administration, specifically the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the naira. Goje, a founding member of the APC and former Gombe governor, has been a ranking senator since 2011.
