The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nasarawa State Sector, Commd Lucie Samuel-Mhii, weekend, was involved in a ghastly accident after a foiled kidnap attempt.

The incident occurred Saturday evening at Wogan, Akwanga-Lafia road when she was returning from a burial at Keffi.

The commander recounted on Monday that, “While returning from the event, my vehicle was flagged down by an unidentified vehicle.

“Initially, I believed they might need assistance, and I instructed my driver to slow down.

“However, my driver refused, explaining that the area is notorious for kidnappings.

“As if the suspects overheard our conversation, they attempted to block our vehicle repeatedly.

“My driver managed to evade their initial efforts, but at a point, one of the individuals brandished a firearm.

“This caused my driver to lose control, leading to the vehicle veering off the road into a ditch.”

She said the occupants of her vehicle maintained silence, which made their invaders think that they had died.

In her words, “This calmness likely saved our lives, as the suspects were heard saying in Hausa that we were already ‘dead’ before they abruptly left the scene.”

According to an eyewitness, the incident forced many motorists to park, suspecting a kidnapping or herdsmen attack due to the erratic movements they noticed on the road.
