Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has come to the defense of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar after the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike vowed that he wouldn’t win the party’s presidential ticket in 2027. Momodu, in his reaction, said that Atiku, who was the party’s flagbearer in the 2023 election but lost to President Bola Tinubu, has never asked anyone not to contest in a primary election.... He added that Wike’s hatred for Atiku is an indication that the political stalwart remains the only stumbling block to their political ambition.
Excerpts of his post read: “He [Atiku] is a consummate politician and an incurable fatalist who believes in the total will of Allah. He has never asked anyone not to contest against him. Nyesom Wike does not have the power under the Nigerian Constitution to stop any Nigerian from pursuing his dreams and ambitions. His hatred for Atiku is indicative of only one thing: Atiku is their only nightmare.”
Nyesom Wike in a media parley with selected journalists in his office in Abuja on Wednesday, November 13 won’t secure the presidential ticket to run in 2027.
His comments were in response to Atiku’s recent claim that his economic blueprint would rescue and serve Nigerians better than the current administration’s approach, Wike said that Atiku had previously presented his blueprint to Nigerians, who rejected him.
He said, “Did he not present it before Nigerians? Did Nigerians choose him? He is lobbying for another chance, but the chance will not be there. In which party? How can we rely on one man for so many years?
“Look at America. I’m sure you all did not support Trump, saying he is this, he is a racist, he is that. We cried, but Americans thought differently, made a decision for the good of their own country. “You presented your blueprint in 2023; Nigerians heard you clearly and said thank you, but it will not work.
