PDP Expels Board of Trustees Chairman Adolphus Wabara

The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled Adolphus Wabara, the embattled Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees and former President of the Nigerian Senate.

The decision was announced on Tuesday following an emergency meeting held by the State Working Committee of the party.

The meeting was called following a report from the party’s Disciplinary Committee, which had been investigating allegations against Wabara.

The expulsion was confirmed in a statement signed by Abia State PDP Chairman Abraham Amah and State Secretary Peter Nwaokonko.

The statement said that after a thorough review of the committee’s findings and recommendations regarding the expulsion of Senator Adolphus Wabara, the SWC unanimously approved the recommendation contained in the report.

The party cited Articles 57(3) and 59(1) of the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended) to justify its decision.

“In line with Article 57(3) and 59(1) of the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), which stipulates that an expelled member cannot exercise any rights or privileges within the party, the Abia State Executive Committee hereby recommends the immediate appointment of an Acting BoT Chairman by the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great party,” Amah said.

Adolphus Wabara’s troubles within the party in his state began several weeks ago when the Abia PDP SWC suspended him over alleged anti-party activities. In a swift reaction, the National Working Committee intervened and declared the suspension null and void.
