Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has ruled out any reconciliation with Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara, stating that the ongoing rift remains unresolved. At a media briefing in Abuja on Sunday, Wike criticized Fubara and his allies for neglecting directives issued by President Bola Tinubu during a peace meeting aimed at resolving their differences.
Wike expressed disbelief that Fubara’s camp had not followed through on the president’s instructions. He described their behavior as unprofessional, noting that after a presidential intervention, Fubara’s camp dismissed it as a political matter. “I have never seen this in my life — for a president to call parties, and one party goes back and says it’s political. Who does that?” Wike said.
The FCT Minister emphasized that Fubara’s team should have returned to President Tinubu to explain their failure to comply with his directives. Wike further criticized the lack of accountability, adding, “Mr. President, in his wisdom, called all parties. He said withdraw the impeachment notice, you go and do this, you go and do that, but they never returned to him.”
