In a chilling case of domestic violence, the Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 71-year-old man, Jeriel Clifford Peter, for allegedly killing his 67-year-old wife, Miltha Jeriel, after a heated quarrel at a beer parlour turned bloody.
The gruesome incident reportedly occurred in Demsa Local Government Area on November 6, 2025, when a disagreement between the couple spiralled out of control.
Eyewitnesses say the elderly husband furiously attacked his wife with a knife and an axe, stabbing her multiple times in a drunken rage.
Police operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Demsa Division, arrived swiftly at the scene following a distress call.
The victim was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead shortly after arrival. Her remains have been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
The suspect has been arrested, and the weapons of murder — a knife and an axe — have been recovered, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje.
Condemning the incident, Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, described the killing as “unfortunate and barbaric,” directing the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, to take over the case and ensure discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
The CP also warned residents against domestic violence, urging couples to resolve disputes peacefully and seek help before conflicts turn deadly.
“The Command will ensure justice is served and that no offender escapes lawful punishment,” CP Morris assured.
