Department of State Services, DSS Arrests Alleged Arms Manufacturer Fuelling Violence In Plateau State

Abubakar, long believed to be a crucial part of the shadowy supply chain fueling violence in Plateau and other northern states, was apprehended on November 12, 2025, during a raid carried out in Mista Ali, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a suspected major arms supplier, identified as Musa Abubakar, in Plateau State, following a targeted intelligence operation that exposed his alleged role in manufacturing and distributing weapons to armed groups across the region.

Abubakar, long believed to be a crucial part of the shadowy supply chain fueling violence in Plateau and other northern states, was apprehended on November 12, 2025, during a raid carried out in Mista Ali, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

NTA reports that the arrest followed months of surveillance and credible intelligence gathering, culminating in a swift and covert operation by DSS operatives.

He was arrested during active production, surrounded by raw chemicals, tools, and explosive components.

Meanwhile, the suspect has provided voluntary confessions during interrogation, admitting to the manufacture and distribution of high-caliber arms and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to criminal networks involved in attacks, banditry, and communal clashes across Plateau and adjoining northern regions.

Recovered from the raid were dangerous components including explosive chemicals, metal fabrication equipment, detonators, and partially assembled weapons.

All seized items are now in DSS custody for forensic analysis.

SaharaReporters previously reported that the Department of State Services (DSS) has rearrested a notorious Ansaru terrorist, Abdulazeez Obadaki, who escaped during the July 2022 Kuje Correctional Centre jailbreak in Abuja, security sources confirmed on Friday.

Obadaki was one of the most dangerous terror operatives linked to the Islamic State–affiliated Ansaru network, had been on the run for more than two years.

He was allegedly responsible for orchestrating multiple deadly attacks across the country, including the coordinated raids on commercial banks in Uromi, Edo State, and the fatal shooting at Deeper Life College in Okene, Kogi State, both carried out in 2022.

The fugitive was among the 879 inmates who fled the Kuje Custodial Centre on 5 July 2022 after dozens of heavily armed insurgents launched a well-coordinated assault on the facility, freeing terrorists, kidnappers and other high-profile criminals.
