Sani, while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, March 10, said the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win the state, presidential and National Assembly elections in 2027.
A strong critic of El-Rufai, the former lawmaker who was reacting to the ex-governor’s defection from APC to Social Democratic Party (SDP) said he will only keep his fingers crossed ahead of the 2027 election.
Also describing the defection and boasting by the former Kaduna governor as his usual antics, Sani said it is only God who knows who would be alive to witness the 2027 polls.
He said, “Well, I know that these are some of his antics. For us, we will not say anything but we will lead the cart and we will see what will happen as far as the next election is concerned.
“Only God knows what will happen tomorrow, nobody knows who is going to be alive until 2027 but if we are alive and healthy, I will see who will carry the day between us and him. I think he is from Kaduna State, that’s where we come from. Well, let’s put the cards on the ground and see what will happen,” Sani said.
Further speaking, Sani noted that the move by El-Rufai to join the opposition is not a guarantee for him to secure victory for the SDP.
“As far as I am concerned, the result will speak for itself but i am telling assuredly that, the party will win at the presidential, state and the National Assembly elections as far as Kaduna state is concerned. I am not talking about other states but Kaduna, we are going to win.
“Well as for rallying the opposition, the opposition is going to see him as one with a moral standing to line up behind them, well, good luck to them. I can’t say anything about that… This is democracy and we need a vibrant and potent opposition that would the government to account and also make sure that people in power are also on their feet.
“But when you line up disgruntled elements of this kind, who are likely going to whip up sentiment, you’ll be ending up no where and I believe that this is where they are going.
“The SDP will see all those issues that are lining up as a question of time but with or without him and as far as we are concerned he is politically irrelevant and we are going to win the elections,”Sani concluded.
