Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi pays tribute to late Brigadier-General Abu Ali

Governor Bala Mohammed has expressed sadness over the passing of Brigadier-General (Rtd) Abu Ali, former Military Administrator of Bauchi State.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mukhtar Gidado, the Special Adviser Media and Publicity to the Governor on Monday.

“On behalf of my family, the government, and the good people of Bauchi State, we mourn the passing of General Abu Ali,” the governor said.

General Abu Ali served as Bauchi State’s Military Administrator from September 1990 to January 1992.

His tenure included commissioning the Bauchi Township Water Project, supporting the Tomato Processing Company, and founding the Wikki Tourists Football Club.

During ethno-religious unrest in 1991, General Abu Ali “acted decisively to restore peace, imposing a curfew and deploying security forces,” the statement said.

He also peacefully handed over power to a democratically elected government in January 1992, showing “respect for democratic governance.”

After his military career, he became the Etsu Bassa Nge, a first-class traditional ruler in Kogi State from 2000, earning nationwide respect for his leadership, wisdom, and cultural pride.

Governor Bala Mohammed praised the late general’s character: “Late General Abu Ali was known for his humility, integrity, and dedication. His life was a model of service to his soldiers, to the people of Bauchi, and to his cultural community.”

He extended condolences to the family, particularly his children, and the people of Bassa Nge Kingdom, asking Bauchi residents to pray for the family and the peaceful repose of General Abu Ali’s soul.

“May the memory of Brigadier-General (Rtd.) Abu Ali continue to inspire us all as a servant-leader, a visionary, and a man of courage and compassion,” the governor added.
