‘I’ll even oppose anyone fighting Obi’s presidential ambitions’ – Datti Baba-Ahmed

Former Vice Presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, says he will oppose anyone who will fight the presidential ambitions of Peter Obi in 2027.

Speaking in a recent interview on Trust Television, Baba-Ahmed said that while he might be nursing presidential ambitions, his principal remains the best man to lead Nigeria.

He said, “If Peter Obi is contesting, I will oppose someone challenging him, even if that someone is myself, I will oppose myself to challenge Peter Obi.”

Baba-Ahmed said his only desire was to see Nigeria flourish and leaders curb the growing insecurity and incessant killings across the nation.

He also expressed deep concern over the countless ransackings of villages, destruction of homes and property by terrorists and bandits alike.

According to him, it is inappropriate for the “bad people” to continue to misrule Nigerians.

“I would like Peter Obi to win again in 2027. My main ambition is to stop the killings, I don’t want every time I read in the newspaper, there is a new dimension to the insecurity.

“There are some villages sacked, some place in Benue State in Plateau State. I don’t like that kind of news and I just cannot sit down and let – I don’t want to use the word now – and let bad people continue to misrule us,” Baba-Ahmed said.
