Outrage as Bandits Impose N100 Million ‘Permit’ on Kebbi Village Pastors

Suspected bandits have demanded N100 million from preachers in Utouno village, Ngaski Local Government Area of Kebbi State, as a levy to be allowed to preach in the town. The threat follows a recent attack by suspected Lakurawa bandits in Arewa South under Kangiwa LGA that killed 33 people.

A letter sent to community leaders warned residents not to treat the message lightly. A community source said the letter has thrown residents into panic, with the terrorists boasting they are “not afraid of anybody, including soldiers.” The Kebbi State Government has responded by deploying additional security personnel to the area. Governor Nasir Idris directed the Commissioner of Police to dispatch more security forces to halt any possible attack. Residents remain on high alert as security presence has been reinforced in Utouno and the surrounding areas.
