I won’t compromise my peace for marriage – Uriel Oputa speaks on ‘pressure’

Reality TV star Uriel Oputa has responded to online criticism about her single status, saying being married or having a husband doesn’t define her.

In an Instagram post, Oputa said she prioritises her peace and safety over societal pressure, refusing to rush into a marriage that might compromise her well-being.

Uriel encouraged women to focus on themselves and not feel pressured by societal expectations, highlighting her own experiences and growth.

She emphasised that she’s not “picky” with men but is protective of her heart, loving deeply and intentionally.

She wrote, “Being married or having a husband does not define me. And if I were married right now, 100%, it would have been to the wrong person, someone for whom my safety was never a priority. I am not late, and I will never rush into anything that compromises my peace.

“Especially not to impress a man who, in a holy month meant for discipline and reflection, chooses instead to tear a woman down. My life, my achievements, and my growth speak for themselves. To every woman feeling pressured, you are not behind. You are choosing yourself.

“My DMs are full. Let’s start there. I’ve never been picky with men. I’ve dated, I’ve experienced, and I’ve kept an open mind. The only thing I have ever been protective of is my heart. Because I am a romantic. I love deeply, fully, and with intention. And that is exactly why I will never place myself in a situation where I am not appreciated, where I am disrespected, where I am broken down by a man.”

The singer’s statement came after a social media user criticised her for remaining single.
