Gunmen Kill Police Officer in Kaduna

A police officer has been killed by suspected armed bandits along the Kakangi–Gagumi road in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to security sources, the incident occurred at about 3:15 p.m. on March 20 when police personnel encountered the armed assailants while on duty along the route.

Following a distress call, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma, Sector 1, Sub-sector 3 Tactical Headquarters in Birnin Gwari, were swiftly deployed to the scene. However, the attackers had fled before the troops arrived.

Sources confirmed that one police officer was fatally shot during the encounter.

In response, troops launched aggressive patrols across the area to assert control, deter further attacks, and restore normalcy. They also facilitated the evacuation of the deceased officer’s remains to a mortuary.

Security agencies have since intensified patrols in the area, while efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
