Bandits invaded a wedding party in Kahir village, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing 13 people and abducting an unspecified number of guests. The attack occurred around 11:47 pm on Sunday, with the assailants storming the venue in large numbers, armed with AK-47 rifles and opening fire. Several injured victims were rushed to Kagarko General Hospital, while others with severe injuries were taken to Kaduna. The bandits also invaded shops, carting away foodstuffs, provisions, and drugs from a community chemist.
Key Points:
Thirteen victims have been identified, including Bako Danjuma, Williams Luka, Peter Williams, and Joseph Yakubu.
The bandits operated unchallenged for nearly an hour, according to residents.
No contact has yet been established with the abductors of the victims.
The deputy governor of Kaduna State and Senator Sani Musa visited the injured victims at the hospital.
The attack follows a pattern of banditry in the area, with 14 people abducted three weeks ago still in captivity.
As Kaduna State mourns another tragic loss of life, the brazen attack on a wedding celebration underscores the deteriorating security situation and the urgent need for enhanced protection of vulnerable communities.
