Fabrizio Romano, the renowned transfer expert revealed that the club’s recent signings do not affect Chelsea’s pursuit for the Striker.

The current African Footballer of the Year has expressed his desire to leave former Italian Champions, Napoli. Neusroom had previously reported that Chelsea is in pole position to sign the Super Eagles star in a player-exchange deal.

Napoli are also keen on Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku, and a swap deal plus cash is being discussed.

Why Osimhen to Chelsea deal is taking so long

There are several challenges facing the deal and experts believe the deal might go down to the final day of the transfer window.

Osimhen has a release clause of about 115m Euros. The London club do not wish to meet that valuation and would rather offer 60m plus Lukaku, who has a valuation of about 35m pounds.

Chelsea are also considering to strike a loan deal with an option to buy. The player and his agent have voiced discontent at such a deal and would rather a loan plus an obligation be inserted.

Another stumbling block to the deal is Osimhen’s wages which is said to be around 12m Euros. Chelsea will, ideally, like to lower those wages in respect of the management’s new wage structure for squad players.

Tense negotiations continue as all parties look to find a solution even as the new season looms.
