Fuel pump prices in Lagos and Abuja have been increased to N925 per litre and N950 per litre respectively by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
According to the company, the new price regime – a N65 increase from the N860 per litre being sold in Lagos and N70 increase from the N880 previously sold in Abuja and the North – would be effective from April 2, 2025
The increase in pump price by NNPCL comes barely one week after some independent marketers like the MRS increased their pump prices in Lagos and some other states in the Northern region.
Some experts in the oil and gas sector have described the increase as an outcome of the suspension of crude oil sales to Dangote Refinery in naira.
Others also attributed the new pricing to the recent change of leadership of NNPCL made by President Bola Tinubu.
In Lagos, while not all the stations have adjusted their meters to reflect the new pricing, NNPCL station along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway have their meter displaying N925 per litre.
Same was noticed in the NNPCL station in Ikorodu, Fadeyi, Ago Palace Way, Ogba, College Road and some other outlets in the Ikeja area.
In Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, NNPCL stations along Wuse, Kubwa Expressway, Jahi have also adjusted their meters to refelct the new price of N950 per litre.
