EPL: Carragher singles out three Chelsea players for criticism over Mitoma’s goal

Sky Sports pundit, Jamie Carragher has criticized the likes of Filip Jorgensen, Trevoh Chalobah and Malo Gusto for their role in Kaoru Mitoma’s wonderful goal in Brighton’s 3-0 win over Chelsea.

Mitoma put Brighton in front in the 27th minute at the Amex Stadium.

Chelsea’s scrambling defenders failed to deal with Bart Verbruggen’s searching goal kick and the Japanese capitalised in some style, taking the ball down with an astonishing first touch before putting the ball past Jorgensen into the net.

Just ten minutes later, Yankuba Minteh doubled the lead for the Seagulls.

Minteh then extended the lead for the hosts in the second half as Chelsea were humbled at Brighton.

Analysing Mitoma’s stunning goal, Carragher said: “I cannot believe that first touch.

“When I was looking back at the goal, I didn’t want to take anything away from the finish.

“Tariq Lamptey just makes Gusto go a little bit wider and it means Mitoma gets in between Chalobah and Gusto, just allows him to bring it down. Nobody is really tight enough to him initially.

“It’s not what you’d say is a mistake by the goalkeeper but it’s the type of save the Liverpool goalkeeper or the Arsenal goalkeeper would make and keep it out.”
