Speaking in an interview, he revealed his plans to lure the PDP Chieftain to decamp to the party after rumors emerged over the past week.

He, however, noted that the party has yet to reach out to the Governor and other political figures within the party.

The APP Chairman noted that the party aims to sensitize the people of Rivers State and canvas for support and membership from dissatisfied PDP members.

He listed targets for persuasion, including Governor Fubara, senators, House of Representatives members, ministers, former and present Assembly members, commissioners, and council chairmen.

Wokekoro said, “As of today I can tell you authoritatively that we have not interfaced with the governor on this matter as a party. Rather what has happened is that some of us who are disoriented with what the party (PDP) is doing at the national level and across board have thought it wise to take the path of honour and move to another party.

“Our intention, having moved, is to sensitize the people of Rivers State and go house to house canvassing for support and membership from hitherto PDP members who are as well dissatisfied with how the party is being run at the national level and at the state level.

“We also intend to reach and persuade, to join our party, the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara. We also intend to reach out to other prominent leaders of the party (PDP) who at one time or the other held important positions, like senators, members of the House of Representatives, ministers, chairman of boards of federal parastatals from the state, former and present Assembly members, former and present commissioners, and former and present council chairmen.”

He added, “It is our aim to go out there and canvas for their support and give them reasons why they have to join our party. As of today we have not done that, we have not started, we are engaged with the business of setting up our secretariat so that people will know that we are serious about the business we are getting into.”

Wokekoro’s statement comes after an explosion rocked the APP secretariat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Monday, linked to speculations of Governor Fubara’s possible defection to the APP.

Reacting to the incident, he noted that the bombing has brought massive publicity to the party.

Wokekoro said, “Our secretariat is imposing. It is strategic. It is clear even for the blind that these people (APP) mean business.

“But one thing that has come out of what they have done is that the publicity has become massive. The intention to scare us has even motivated us to do more.

“It is clear from what they did that they are scared. They know that these (APP) are grassroots people and the moment they come on stream they are going to sweep supporters from PDP, All Progressives Congress, Labour Party and any other party that may be in existence.”
