Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation in the country.
Davido’s reaction comes following the abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the killing of worshippers in a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) parish in Kwara State.
Naija News reports that three people were reportedly killed during Tuesday evening’s attack at the church, while several worshippers, including the pastor, were abducted.
The assault came less than 24 hours after gunmen stormed the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, abducting 25 students and killing the Vice Principal.
Reacting in a statement shared on 𝕏 on Wednesday evening, Davido said the attacks were heartbreaking and unacceptable.
“No family deserves this pain,” the musician wrote, directing his sympathy to the families of the abducted schoolgirls and victims of the Kwara church attack.
He described the incidents as frightening signs of the country’s deteriorating security environment. Davido warned against normalising violence and urged Nigerians to unite against the growing threat.
“These acts of violence must never become our norm,” he said.
The singer called for renewed focus on the safety of children, stressing that every Nigerian child deserves to grow up in hope and security.
“As Nigerians, we must stand together in unity and continue working towards a country where every child can grow up in safety and hope,” he said.
Davido also appealed to members of the public to assist security agencies with credible information that could lead to the rescue of the abducted girls, saying: “Everything must be done to bring the girls home safely. I urge anyone with credible information to come forward in whatever safe and responsible way they can.”
Davido extended condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the Kwara church attack and prayed for comfort and healing for all affected.
“May God comfort the grieving families in Kwara, bring peace to our nation, and put every sponsor of violence and disorder to shame,” he said.
