With tension high in the air, Napoli’s manager Antonio Conte has quickly distanced himself from the club’s transfer activities this summer, even as Premier League heavy spenders Chelsea continue to chase Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen.
The Blues have been busy this summer and reportedly want to add the Napoli icon to their congregation of signings, with the Serie A side also interested in surplus-to-requirements forward Romelu Lukaku.
While he continues to be Ignored by Antonio Conte, Victor Osimhen hung out with Afrobeats legend Terry G.
Despite talks between the two teams, Napoli’s new boss Conte has quickly bowed out from what has become a lingering saga by the club for Osimhen and other summer dealings.
When pressed about his team’s transfer activities with the transfer window closing in on deadline day, the Italian tactician unleashed a cryptic response:
Antonio Conte has taken charge of Napoli not involved in transfers.
“One, two, three, four could arrive, as many as the club wants to sign,” Conte, who spent two years at Chelsea stated, according to Football London.
Conte’s remarks came on the heels of a terrible and tempestuous start to life as Napoli’s manager in the Serie A following a 3-0 thrashing from Hellas Verona in their first game of the season in the League.
Victor Osimhen wants a move away from Napoli this summer.
Nigeria’s Osimhen missed that encounter as his new boss continues to keep him away from the club after he decided to ask for a move away from the club and Naples.
The 25-year-old African footballer of the year has been in the transfer news since the start of the summer as he made his feelings to leave clear to the club.
Osimhen has been in the news since the start of the transfer window after insisting he wants to leave Napoli.
But despite reportedly coming close to a move to French giants PSG, who initially agreed to play his hefty release clause before moving on and being linked with other clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, Osimhen remains a Napoli player with days to the end of the window.
Antonio Conte is still playing without Osimhen.
However, his manager Conte has kicked off life in Naples without the Nigerian after speaking to him earlier in pre-season, with the club looking at replacements for the striker including a young compatriot.
After missing the club’s last two matches and with Conte’s latest words on the club’s transfer activities, Napoli have regrouped ahead of their next encounter in the Serie A as discussions intensify about bolstering their attacking options while finding solutions to Osimhen’s sage before the window shuts.
