Daji while decrying the incessant menace of thuggery in the Minna metropolis said too politicians associated with thuggery either by way of sponsoring or as co-conspirators will be made to face the law.

He also warned those harbouring thugs across Minna and the state as a whole to assist from such.

The Speaker said this while meeting with stakeholders in the state, including lawmakers, security agencies, and traditional leaders.

The meeting between the Speaker and the stakeholders is aimed at addressing the growing menace of thuggery in Minna.

He described the challenge as “very troubling and worrisome,” while stating that the Niger government must act decisively to end the menace.

“We have agreed that thuggery will now be treated as a capital offence and a non-bailable one in Niger State,” he told journalists after the meeting. “Any political class involved in this act of criminality will be arrested and prosecuted,” Daji stated.

In addition, the speaker said that the House of Assembly leadership would revisit the state’s anti-thuggery law to impose stiffer punishment for thuggery.

He also assured residents of lawmakers’ resolve and commitment to ending thuggery and violence in the state.
