Arsenal have announced the signing of Lucas Nygaard having joined the club as a free agent after leaving FC Nordsjaelland and enjoying a successful trial.

The Danish keeper left the club in his homeland in January and has been without a club since but having impressed many at Arsenal – he has now earned himself a move to the club.

And after the announcement was made – the Danish talent opened up and revealed that he is very happy and excited about becoming an Arsenal player – Speaking to Arsenal.com, Lucas said: “I’m really pleased to finally be here. I have a good feeling in my stomach.

“As you all know, ARSENAL is a big football club and I was really happy when my dad told me there was some interest and I was going here on a trial.

I’m a modern goalkeeper who likes to play with my feet. I’m also good on the line, making great saves.

I played for FC Nordsjaelland who also like the goalkeeper to play a lot, so they did a great job developing me.

I’m looking forward to playing games again and winning a lot of games next season while developing.

I’ve chosen Arsenal because I could see they like to play out from the back and that feels really good. The people around the club have been really great, so it wasn’t a hard decision.”

Nygaard is clearly a talent that ARSENAL are impressed with – but now that he is a Gooner he needs to work hard and impress – as it will be very hard to get into that Arsenal squad in the next few seasons.

But we are delighted that he has found his next club.

WILLIAMS DREAM SIGNING –

Mikel Arteta has been told that Spanish star Nico Williams could have a major impact at Arsenal if they were able to sign the winger.

The 21-year-old has banged in seven goals and grabbed 16 assists in 34 appearances for Athletic Bilbao this season across all fronts and is a player that is attracting some of the games biggest clubs.

It is no secret that Mikel Arteta is looking to add some more quality to his attack when the transfer window opens up and is keen to bolster his squad with another winger – to help cove injuries etc.

A report from Football Transfers claims ARSENAL want to add the Athletic Bilbao wideman to their ranks, but they will have to move fast because PSG are also said to be interested.

But as part of bet365’s Euro 2024 coverage, Emmanuel Petit has opened up and encouraged his former club to sign the winger – he said: “Arsenal’s dream signing this summer would be Nico Williams. I’ve been watching him in Spain with his club, but he has impressed me a lot during Euro 2024, especially against Italy. It was a nightmare for the right back.

I think this guy could have a huge impact at Arsenal.

The lad is amazing and under the guidance of Mikel Arteta – he could develop into a class winger – but the fact that he may not even be first choice means that his development could falter if he makes the move to the Premier League.

But he would certainly be a very exciting signing if ARSENAL did manage to bring him to the Premier League over the next few months.

CALAFIORI PERFECT –

Former Arsenal man Emmanuel Petit has told Arsenal that Riccardo Calafiori’s versatility would mean that he’d fit in perfectly at the Emirates Stadium, although he did warn that the Gunners may face a lot of competition for his signature.

The transfer window will give Mikel Arteta the chance to keep on adding to his squad over the next few months and start to add some more depth to the squad, along with a bit more quality in key areas of the pitch.

A new defender, midfielder, striker and possibly a stopper will need to get signed this summer transfer window – and with the backing of the board – ARSENAL have been linked with some big time players already over the past few weeks.

But now former Gunners star Petit has opened up and claimed that Calafiori could be a very good signing for the Gunners – and that a move to Arsenal would be perfect for the defender. As part of bet365’s Euro 2024 coverage, he said: “I have loved watching Riccardo Calafiori at Euro 2024, against Croatia he was so determined, I like him a lot. He is powerful, he has pace, he’s very aggressive, he’s young and you could see that mentally this guy is strong as well.

“When I was watching him I was thinking that this guy could be a good addition for English clubs – and Arsenal would be very good for him.

“Arsenal need someone who is versatile, he can play as a central defender but he can play in other positions too. He’s got pace, he’s intelligent with the ball and doesn’t make a lot of mistakes on the pitch. He’s very focused and good tactically too.

“He’s good technically as well and on top of it he’s got pace, energy and metal.

“He would fit in perfectly at ARSENAL but with Chelsea too. Manchester United as well. I’m pretty sure that Premier League clubs will try to sign him and that might stop him from joining Juventus.”
