Helen, the wife of a former Senate Chief Whip, Rowland Owie has died at the age of 71.
In a statement personally signed by her husband, Helen died peacefully in Abuja on Wednesday, April 9, after a brief illness.
According to Rowland, his late wife came into his life over 50 years ago and made their home a safe space for everyone throughout her time on earth.
He said, “She showed unwavering love to my family members and friends, and through her faith, strength, and grace, held us all together.”
Commiserating with the Owie family, Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president of Nigeria described the deceased as a peaceful, humble and loving woman.
Atiku wrote on X, “Late Lady Helen Owie lived an exemplary life that impacted her family, her community, and all who encountered her in her eventful life.
“She was a devout Christian who made the love of others a central theme of her life.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the Owie family and friends at this time of grief,” Atiku said.
The former vice president further prayed for the repose of Helen’s soul and the strength for her family to bear the painful loss.
