Boko Haram Terrorists Storm Army Base in Borno, Cart Away Gun Trucks

Fighters of the Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist group launched an attack on a military base in Isige town, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, leading to the loss of three Nigerian Army personnel.

The attack, which lasted for several hours, saw the terrorists setting numerous buildings ablaze and escaping with two gun trucks.

It is understood that the names of the slain army personnel are yet to be disclosed, as their families have yet to be informed.

“There was an attack recently in Borno, one Staff Sergeant with two private soldiers were killed. However, the army authorities are silent over the attack which happened at a base in Isige Town, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

“They burnt one military vehicle while they went away with two gun trucks, later reinforcement came from nearby unit but then the Boko Haram fighters have left,” a source disclosed.

The attack is the latest in a series of brutal assaults by the terror group. Just a few weeks ago, ISWAP launched a deadly attack on the military’s Forward Operating Base in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State. The attack resulted in a yet-to-be-confirmed number of casualties, with many soldiers still missing.

A source revealed that the terror group invaded the camp, FOB Sabon Gari, around 4 am on Saturday, using various weapons. ISWAP subsequently claimed responsibility for the attack, releasing a statement and attaching pictures of members shooting sporadically towards the military facility.

The terror sect operates mainly in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states.
