According to Kasiya Police Public Relations Officer Constable Mercy Chitonde the incident occurred on August 4, 2024, at around 18:00hrs in Chamaluwa Village.
She said the suspect is a neighbour of the victim’s mother.
On the said date the victim’s mother went to a nearby borehole to fetch water, leaving her daughter at home playing with the suspect’s daughter.
Chitonde adds that taking advantage of the situation, the suspect called the victim, sexually molested her in the presence of his own daughter, and gave the victim K200 to buy sweets.
On August 5, 2024, the suspect’s daughter revealed the incident to the victim’s mother who then reported to the police.
