Tinubu emphasized the need for mining companies to prioritize the health and safety of Nigerians, particularly in host communities. He also stressed the importance of diversifying Nigeria’s economy and acknowledged the significant role the mining sector could play in achieving this goal.

The President commended the NDC participants for their in-depth research and analysis, urging them to use their findings to contribute to national security and economic stability. He highlighted the challenges posed by illegal mining and scavenging activities, expressing confidence that the military’s involvement would be crucial in addressing these issues.

In his remarks, Tinubu assured the NDC delegation of his administration’s commitment to completing the college’s permanent headquarters in Abuja. He also addressed the health concerns associated with mining activities, calling for the establishment of medical facilities in mining areas to safeguard the well-being of local communities.

Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, Commandant of the NDC, praised the institution’s achievements and requested further support for the completion of its permanent site. The NDC, established in 1992, has trained participants from various Nigerian sectors and 30 other countries, contributing significantly to national security and strategic research.
