His lifeless body was discovered on January 5, near the Orle River, close to Down City Pride Road, Igbira Camp, residents said.
Familiar with the incident said the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N200 million for the release of the two brothers.
Following the killing of Abu, the abductors reportedly reduced their demand, with figures said to have fluctuated between N100 million and N40 million before a final agreement of N50 million was reached.
According to the family, the ransom was paid in two tranches โ N20 million and N30 million โ before Ibrahim was eventually released.
Speaking to journalists, the father of the abducted brothers confirmed that the money was raised through collective efforts by the family, donations from non-governmental organisations, as well as contributions from friends and well-wishers.
โMy son has been released after we paid N50 million. I feel good that he is free, but I have also lost another son,โ the distraught father said.
He disclosed that Ibrahim sustained a bullet graze on his leg during the ordeal and is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital.
