ragedy struck in Maiduguri, Borno State, as a fire incident at a residence on Damboa Road claimed the lives of Mallam Garba Bala Abubakar, former Chief Registrar of the Borno Cooperatives Society, along with his wife and two other family members.
It was gathered that the sad incident claimed the lives of husband, wife and two other female members.
Daily Trust reports that a family source has confirmed that the incident occurred on Sunday morning.
A friend of the deceased, who shared the news on Facebook, described Abubakar as a “very humble” and “down-to-earth” person.
He also noted that Abubakar perished along with beloved members of his immediate family.
The cause of the domestic fire is suspected to be an electrical surge.
“The deceased retired as a Chief Registrar of Cooperatives Societies with the Borno State Government and later worked with a private borehole drilling company.
“Not long ago, we spoke extensively on contemporary issues and assured him that I would visit him in his new house whenever I happen to be in Maiduguri, not knowing that was the last time I would hear his voice. Allahu Akbar.
“A very humble and down-to-earth personality is gone along with cherished members of his immediate family. They had since been buried in Maiduguri today. May Allah (swt) admit them into Aljannah Firdausih,” he said.
