BREAKING NEWS: Labour Party withdraws hours to election

The leadership of the Labour Party has announced the party’s withdrawal from the Saturday, February 22, Local Government Council elections.

Adebayo Bello, the chairman of the Labour Party in Osun state announced this while speaking to journalists in Osogbo.

Bello said that the party’s decision to withdraw from the election is due to the lack of adequate security plans by the State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC).

According to Bello, the security of lives and property of the party members and voters alike cannot be guaranteed.

He also called on the commission, the state government and all other relevant agencies to review the situation on the ground and postpone the election.

He warned that there is a need to ensure that the security of the people of Osun is paramount in this instance.

Bello added that postponing the election for one or two months would give OSSEIC ample time to adequately prepare for the LG elections.
