Adeyanju criticized the purchase of a new presidential jet, an Escalade bulletproof vehicle, and a yacht, especially conserving the economic hardship in the country.
In a post on his social media page, Adeyanju wrote: “Critics don’t make good leaders. If in doubt, just look at Tinubu. The guy is acting like a Sani Abacha pro max just under one year. A hypocrite that can’t take what he gives.
“Just got back to Abuja from Lagos and saw Tinubu’s outrageously huge presidential jet.”
The new presidential jet purchased by Tinubu’s administration is rumoured to be valued at around N150 million.
Tinubu’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the purchase of the presidential jet, stating that it was bought below the market price.
He emphasised that acquiring the jet had saved Nigeria huge maintenance and fuel costs, amounting to millions of dollars annually.
Onanuga explained that the decision to purchase the jet was made after a recommendation to replace the B737-700 (BBJ) following an investigative hearing by the National Assembly.
The presidential aide mentioned that the legislative branch had raised concerns about the aircraft’s safety record and cost efficiency, particularly after it malfunctioned during Tinubu’s trip to Saudi Arabia.
