Osimhen submitted a transfer request after Napoli informed him that he would not be needed for the forthcoming season following Antonio Conte’s appointment.
Several clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and PSG, have shown interest in the 26-year-old. However, his transfer fee has been a deterrent due to his release clause. Napoli set a 130 million euro release clause on the forward after he signed a new contract last season.
However, reports from The Sun suggest that Chelsea is close to securing the striker for £85 million.
Chelsea’s new manager, Enzo Maresca, is eager to bring Osimhen to the team after the deal for Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid fell through.
Osimhen has been on Chelsea’s radar for some time. He scored 15 goals in Serie A last season and now wants to challenge himself in the Premier League.
