BREAKING NEWS: Tech Billionaire Bill Gates unleashes $200 Billion to Africa, targets poverty, AI innovation

Bill Gates has pledged the lion’s share of his $200 billion fortune to Africa. The tech billionaire made this announcement on Friday at the African Union’s Nelson Mandela Hall.

He addressed a crowd of more than 12,000, including heads of state, diplomats, and youth leaders. His message was clear: health, innovation, and human development must be Africa’s top priorities.

Gates declared his wealth would be fully spent over the next 20 years. Most of it, he said, would go directly to Africa.

“The majority of that funding will be spent on helping you address challenges here in Africa,” Gates announced.

He stressed the need to invest in human potential, noting healthcare and education are the fastest paths to prosperity.

Gates hailed the achievements of Nigeria, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. He praised their bold leaders for pushing reforms despite limited budgets and waning foreign aid.

“With health and education, every country in Africa can chart a path to prosperity,” he said.

He emphasized that primary healthcare remains the most powerful way to impact lives, especially maternal and child care.

Gates said, “If a mother receives good nutrition before and during pregnancy, her child’s health improves dramatically.”

He added, “The first four years of a child’s life are critical for nutrition and development.”

Global leaders such as Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Amina J. Mohammed welcomed Gates’ commitment.

Graça Machel praised Gates’ deep-rooted trust in African governments and communities. She described the partnership as genuine and respectful.

Okonjo-Iweala said Africa’s progress was driven by strong policies and resilient populations.
