Broadcasters Demand Wike’s Apology, Threaten to Boycott His Briefings Over Shooting Remark

The Independent Broadcast Association of Nigeria (IBAN) has demanded that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike retract his remark about shooting Channels TV anchor Seun Okinbaloye and issue a public apology. Wike had said he would have “broken his TV screen and shot” Okinbaloye over comments about a one-party system destroying democracy. Amnesty International had previously described the remarks as “reckless and violent language.”
