Chelsea injury news as the Blues release their latest list of absentees before the weekend’s clash with Manchester City
Chelsea have released their latest injury update ahead of Mauricio Pochettino’s press conference looking forward to the meeting with Manchester City on Sunday. The boss is set to explain the fitness of his squad in detail but the club have once more listed out the current absecentees.
After beating Tottenham on Monday there were still a few issues to be addressed with Reece James playing 75 minutes but not taking the call to be a part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad. “I was hoping to call up Reece James but he doesn’t feel he’s quite ready,” the manager explained on Thursday.
“I understand that, he’s had a long path back from a number of injuries. He’s probably a bit cautious in that respect, but I can understand why.”
James is not on the list of injured players for Chelsea here though and it can be assumed that he will be inline to start his third game in a row at SW6 this weekend. Pochettino will be hoping that keystone midfielder Enzo Fenandez can join him.
The Argentine took a heavy blow in the first half against Tottenham from international teammate Cristian Romero and had to be taken off after the break. He was seen with an ice pack on his leg and wasn’t seen in pictures released by the club until Thursday, sparking fears that he might not be fit.
Fernandez, like James, is not on this list though and it seems that he too will be taking to the field against Pep Guardiola’s men. The Blues are still set to be without a host of stars though as Ben Chilwell, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Romeo Lavia and Carney Chukwuemeka.
Christopher Nkunku is also still out but there is hope that he will be able to make his debut before the end of the year as he continues to work towards a return. He and Nkunku have been sending regular updates on their progress online and will be planning to make an impact sooner rather than later.
Armando Broja had come back from his own lengthy spell on the sideline but has missed the past two games, he is not on the list of those currently injured and may well be in line to play once more on Sunday..…CONTINUE.FULL.READING>>>
