Christianity Is Not A Religion — Oyakhilome Reveals What Christianity Truly Is

Founder and President of LoveWorld Incorporated, also known as Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has called on Christians to embrace their true identity in Christ by living daily in the reality of their divine nature.

Speaking during a recent teaching session, Pastor Oyakhilome emphasized that Christianity is not about religious rituals but about a transformed life that reflects God’s nature.

“So when I came here, I opened my note where I was going to start, but then I took off and I haven’t done that yet,” he began. “But what we’re sharing is already consistent with the title: Walk in the reality of your divine nature. How else are you going to put it? That’s encapsulating everything I already said.”

Quoting from Romans 6:4, he explained: “Therefore, we are buried with him by baptism into death, that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

According to him, being born again means walking in this newness of life and living consistently with the nature of Christ. “Since He’s given you a new life, He says, Walk in this newness of life. Let your life be consistent with this life that He’s given you,” he urged.

Pastor Oyakhilome further stressed that Christianity transcends human definitions of religion. “Christianity is not a religion. Think about it. Christianity is not a religion. It’s a relationship with God and a participation in the divine life,” he declared.

He explained that salvation brings about total transformation, making believers new creatures in Christ. “When you were born again, you were recreated in Christ. You received a new life, a new nature, and a new identity,” he said.

Highlighting 2 Corinthians 5:17, he continued: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.”

Pastor Oyakhilome added that Christians must stop seeing themselves as forgiven sinners and instead accept their new identity. “The Christian is not a forgiven sinner but a new creature. The old man with his limitations, weaknesses, and failures is gone. You are not what you were before,” he said emphatically.

Concluding his message, he reminded believers that the indwelling Christ is not a future hope but a present reality. “Christ in you, the hope of glory. Hope has been realized. It’s not about later, it’s now,” he declared.
