Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the Delta Police Command said Bello was confirmed dead at the hospital where she was taken to.

Addressing some of the circumstances surrounding Bello’s death, Edafe said her husband was not arrested but has been taken into protective custody by the police.

He also stated that an autopsy would be conducted by the state to ascertain the cause of Bello’s death.

“We didn’t arrest her husband. He is in protective custody.

“The husband was the one who called to say that his wife died early this morning, that he is receiving threats from the wife’s family and that there is fear that they want to attack him,” Edafe said.

He explained that it was based on Bello’s husband’s call that the police went to his house to pick him up.

In addition, the police spokesperson said Bello’s family visited the station to lay complaints against her husband.

According to him, the family had accused her husband of killing the late governor’s aide.

“So, on that ground, we are still investigating. In cases like this, it is only an autopsy that will determine whether it was natural or if there was something else,” Edafe states.
