Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State has approved the appointment of 23 administrators for all the Local Government Areas of the state.
The appointment of the administrators by Ibas comes barely 24 hours after Federal High Court in Port Harcourt made an order restraining him from appointing leaders to handle the affairs of the local government councils in the state.
Justice Adam Muhammed had in a suit filed by PILEX Centre for Civic Education Initiative ruled that no appointment shojld be made by Ibas.
However, defying the court order Ibas also approved theconstitution of some boards of agencies, commissions and parastatals, which he suspended upon assuming office.
In a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibibia Worika, the appointments are rl take effect immediately.
Worika said, “His Excellency The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR, has approved the appointments of administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
“He has also approved the reconstitution of some boards of agencies, commissions, and parastatals, earlier suspended.
“All appointments take effect from Monday, the 7th of April 2025,” Worika added.
