The security of the nation is completely under the Federal Government’s control, the Minister for Information and National. Orientation, Mohammed Idris has assured. Speaking on Tuesday, April 8, Idris said despite the pockets of attacks by bandits and terrorists and the growing rate of kidnappings across the nation, everything is under the control of the FG. Idris’ reaction followed remarks made by the governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum about the rise in insecurity in the state.
The minister’s reaction also comes shortly after the Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang said that about 23 Local Government Areas of the state have been overrun by bandits.
However, in his reaction, Idris said, “Yes security is indeed improving in many parts of the country even if acts of violence have not been completely eradicated.
“Security agencies are working round the clock to ensure that the situation in some parts of Borno State and others are brought under control, the minister noted.
He also said that there has been an improved synergy between all the security agencies focused on combating terrorism, banditry, kidnappings and reducing other forms of crimes.
“The successes achieved by the security agencies in the last 18 months is an indication that indeed Nigeria is gradually returning to normalcy.
“Government calls on all, especially the subnational governments to join hands to ensure rapid eradication of the remaining pockets of criminal elements wherever they may be,” Idris said.
