Easter: Let’s recommit to pursuing peace, justice for all

As Nigerian Christians join the rest of the world to celebrate the 2025 Easter in commemoration of the resurrection of Christ, leaders have continued to preach peace, unity and tolerance for each other.

In his Easter message, a former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan said this is the time for national reconciliation.

Jonathan urged Nigerians across the globe to use the Waster celebration as an opportunity to recommit to the progress and development of the nation.

He also called on Christians to ensure that they leverage the lessons from the resurrection of Christ in dealing with one another while gliding through the challenges facing the nation.

The former president also urged Nigerians to always draw strength from the sacrificial death of Christ which has given mankind.

Jonathan said, “This day reminds us all of the sacrificial death of Christ for humanity and His gift of salvation and redemption to all believers.

“At Easter, we reflect on the power of Christ’s love, the gift of righteousness, and the triumph of hope over despair and every challenge in life.

“The death and resurrection of Christ on the cross awakens us to the boundless love of God towards us; a reminder of the possibilities faith in God offers to us on earth,” Jonathan said.

He urged all Nigerians to also be encouraged by the resurrection of Christ and the hope of victory imbibed in it.

“Let us recommit to pursuing peace and justice for all,” he added.
