Bello made the announcement barely a few hours after her former boss and principal, ex-governor Nasir El-Rufai dumped the same party for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Monday, March 10.
In a letter addressed to the party’s ward chairman for Unguwar Sariki Ward, Kaduna North LGA, Baba said her resignation is with immediate effect.
Stating that she was ending all association with the ruling party, Baba said she came into negotiations with the APC as the incumbent national woman leader of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria.
According to her, with the merger of parties to entrench a new democratic order, it has become clear that the APC has lost its sense of direction and purpose.
Baba added, “As an ardent proponent and follower of these principles, continued association with the party as it is currently constituted is against my personal principles (Aqida)
Further actions and political decisions will follow as myself and like-minds deem appropriate and as may keep us on our founding – and still extant – principles of justice and political order,” she added.
While Baba did not state what party she would be joining, it is only obvious that she would be heading to SDP where her boss, El-Rufai has just pitched his tent.
