P.M.EXPRESS reports that the drivers, Wahab Abeeb, 31and Kareem Jamiu, 21, demanded the key from her but she refused. They joined hands to beat her mercilessly, stripped her naked in public and retrieved the key from her.
The incident happened at Jakande Gate, Ejigbo area of Lagos.
The alleged assault was reported to the Police at Ejigbo Division. The operatives moved into action, arrested the two suspects, Abeeb and Jamiu and detained them at the station for interrogation over their alleged conduct.
According to the Police, one of the suspects, Abeeb, was driving and wanted to turn from the Jakande junction to their park. In the process, his bus brushed Chizoba’s Lexus SUV, which made her to come down and she seized the bus key from the driver, Abeeb, which led to her being assaulted.
During interrogation, the complainant told the Police that the suspects gave her fist blows, dragged her on the ground and stripped her naked, which caused her serious body injury.
She also claimed that in the process, they damaged her iPhone Promax and Samsung phones, destroyed her wrist watch valued at N1.860m.
The Police found the suspects culpable and subsequently charged them before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged conspiracy, assault and stealing under the Criminal Laws of the State.
However, they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 15th October, 2024, for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
